Daylight Counselling now offers two distinct sevices - counselling and EMDR therapy - which are effective for differet issues. Please read the brief descriptions below before applying.

Counselling

Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained counsellor listening to you and helping you find ways to deal with emotional issues.

Counselling can help you cope with:

  • a mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder,
  • an upsetting physical health condition, such as infertility,
  • difficult life event, such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress, or
  • difficult emotions, for example, low self-esteem or anger


    Daylight offers counselling face to face, by phone or by online by Zoom.

    EMDR therapy

    EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy specifically aimed at helping people overcome the effects of traumatic or deeply upsetting events. These effects include anxiety, intrusive thoughts and memories (flashbacks), memory loss, nightmares and hypervigilance, amongst others. Trauma comes in many forms. Traumatic events that may respond well to EMDR include:

  • childhood abuse,
  • assault including sexual assault,
  • being a victim of robery or other crime,
  • bereavement through suicide, violence or accident, or
  • being bullied.


    Daylight offers EMDR theraapy online by Zoom and very occassionally face to face.
